Snow Skiing

Join us on the slopes in Ruidoso, New Mexico where the Ski Apache Adaptive Sports program will host 12 children and/or teens with special needs.  Adapted ski equipment such as sit skis and walker skis are included to make skiing fun and safe! The ski trip is open to families who have participated in at least one Kinetic Kids program in the prior year. Children 8 and older are most successful on this trip due to the endurance requirements and tolerance to cold climates. The family must provide transportation to Ruidoso, NM, lodging (discounted rates available), meals, and winter/ski clothing including jackets, bibs, hats, goggles, and gloves. Ski shops in Ruidoso rent bibs and ski jackets if necessary. One adult will receive a 50% pass to accompany the participant on the slopes.

  • Successful tryout or recommendation by staff
  • Possess the skill and desire to compete at a higher level
  • Must be able to comprehend and retain rules and skills, and then build upon them from week to week
  • 1:1 support is not provided, so must be able to train, compete, function in a group setting and follow the coach’s directions without volunteer assistance
